“How’s your ankle?”
“Better. I think the ice is melted.”
Rachel got up long enough to remove the ice pack, check that the swelling had gone down, and rewind the compression bandage. After helping the injured woman to a sitting position, she popped the cork on the champagne, poured them each a glass then climbed into bed, too. “Pass the chocolates.”
They each selected a candy from the fancy box. Sophia held up her champagne flute. “To Damon, the sneaky bastard.”
Rachel laughed then lifted her glass. “To Damon, the sneaky bastard.” They clinked their glasses together and drank to their friend. “We owe him one.”
“A big one,” Sophia agreed. “We need to find him the biggest cock we can. He’d like that.”
Rachel almost choked on the bite of candy she’d just taken. “He’s gay?”
“You didn’t know?”
“I guess I never thought about it. Truthfully, I’ve been such a mess that I haven’t paid much attention to anything but myself for the last year or so.” She reached for Sophia’s hand and gave it a squeeze. “But that’s behind me now. Knowing everything about you and making you happy has recently become my number one priority.”
Sophia squeezed back. “Same here. But seriously, Damon’s been alone for a long time. We really should find someone for him. It’s the least we can do for him setting us up the way he did.”
“I was so pissed at him for sending me to do his dirty work for him.” She shook her head at the memory of being conned into delivering his Valentine’s Day regrets.
“Turned out to be my Special Delivery Valentine.”
“It was special?”
Sophia blushed. “You know it was. You are.” She brought her hand up to cup Rachel’s jaw. “It’s my turn. Let me make love to you.” Her lips tasted of chocolate, and her tongue, when it swept into her mouth, tasted of champagne. Rachel broke away to place her glass on the nightstand. Sophia stopped her.
“Hang on to it. Don’t spill a drop. No matter what.”
Clutching the delicate stemmed glass between trembling fingers, she watched her lover’s head drop lower. When she took her nipple into her mouth and sucked, Rachel closed her eyes and opened her legs for her very own Special Delivery Valentine.

A SPANKING GOOD CHRISTMAS
A Kinky Christmas Short Story
Can a gift certificate to a fetish club and a pervertable Christmas decoration bring two co-workers together?
Cindy has fantasized about spanking Marley ever since her fellow designer admitted to missing the sexual kink after ending a short-lived relationship. Rigging the office gift exchange is simple compared to admitting her growing feelings for the other woman.
Marley can’t believe Cindy’s thoughtful present. The gift certificate to NYC’s notorious fetish club, Bottoms Up, would be perfect if Cindy herself were the one swinging the paddle, but admitting to having a thing for her co-worker could ruin a perfectly good working relationship as well as a treasured friendship.
CHAPTER ONE
Clutching her own unopened Secret Santa gift to her chest, Cindy worried her bottom lip with her teeth while she did her best to disappear in the room crowded with her co-workers. Keeping her head down, she worked her way around the perimeter, glancing—when she dared—at the woman still waiting to receive a gift. There was one for her, and Cindy could hardly breathe, waiting to see the woman’s reaction when she opened the package.
She’d taken a big risk, but six months of working with Marley and not touching the woman’s fine ass was making her crazy. Crazy enough to manipulate the annual gift exchange drawing. Crazy enough to give the woman a gift certificate to Bottoms Up.
Cindy was a regular at the exclusive spanking fetish club in lower Manhattan, so it hadn’t taken much talking to get the owners to agree to call her the second the object of her obsession stepped into the building. No one, but no one, was going to lay a hand on her co-workers ass but her.
The first time Marley bent over the workbench in the office they shared, she’d known she wanted to spank her. The woman had a perfect ass for discipline, heart shaped and full. Not big, but the way her hips flared out from her trim waist was a sight to behold. Cindy couldn’t count the times she’d had to leave the room to keep from hiking Marley’s skirt up and turning her ass red.
She’d imagined using her hand at first, wanting to mark her. Over the last few months, she’d envisioned striping those perfect globes with all sorts of things—the yardstick they used to assemble layouts in a straight line, the thin wand on the mini-blinds covering the windows overlooking 34th Street, the woven lanyards holding their building security credentials around their necks. Each would make a distinctive pattern as well as convey a specific message.
Hands were intimate, used to deal with transgressions of a personal nature. The yardstick and wand would be for office-related issues. She’d save the lanyard for playtime when she wanted Marley to think about what was in store for her when they got to Bottoms Up.
She finally reached a spot where, standing on tiptoe, she could see her friend’s face over the shoulders of several men. She felt like a Peeping Tom, but it couldn’t be helped. Not knowing how she would react when she saw her gift was enough to make Cindy’s stomach do backflips.
Of course, she never would have dared to give the woman such a gift without some sort of indication it would be well received. Her fellow layout designer had confided in her a few times. She was sexually adventurous, having had relationships with both genders in the months Cindy had known her. Marley had even mentioned her last boyfriend liked to spank her. When they split up, the spanking was the only thing she’d said she missed.
Cindy immediately began planning to rig the Secret Santa drawing knowing nothing worthwhile was ever easily accomplished.
Though she wouldn’t admit it out loud, she was in love with her co-worker, but unless the woman could accept spanking as a way of life, there wasn’t much of a future for them. Cindy loved to spank and be spanked. Sometimes it was a sexual thing for her, but not always. Spanking represented structure and discipline, things sorely lacking in the way she’d been brought up. As an adult, she craved them in her life. Bottoms Up was an addiction for her, but with the right person, she might be able to let the club go.
She had a feeling Marley was the right person.
Finally, the office Santa called Marley’s name. Holding her breath, Cindy watched her friend take the slim silver box tied with red ribbon. She held it close to her ear, listening as she shook the box. Hearing nothing, as she knew she would, Marley opened the giant tote bag she carried everywhere and dropped the box inside.
She isn’t even going to open it! Cindy sank back onto her heels, disappointment weighing heavy on her shoulders. What do I do now?
“Hey, Cin!”
Hearing her name called, she glanced up. April, another one of her co-workers, waved to her from across the room. A few years older than herself, the woman had been one of her first friends when she joined the magazine’s production crew. Though they didn’t work together directly, their paths crossed often.
“April.” She smiled as her friend approached. “Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas.” She pointed to the small unopened package Cindy clutched to her chest. “What did you g
et?”
She laughed. “I don’t know. Haven’t opened it yet. I was too busy watching everyone else open theirs.”
April held up a length of leather about two inches wide and eighteen inches long. Embossed on the tanned hide were the words, Ho, Ho, Ho. “What the heck am I supposed to do with this?”
All kinds of things came to mind, but she kept them to herself. Instead, she said, “I haven’t got a clue, but I’ll trade you.” She held up her unopened gift. “Whatever is in here for”—she nodded toward April’s present—“whatever that is.”
“Seriously? You’ll trade for this thing?”
“Yup. It’s a one-time offer. Take it or leave it.” She shook her package, emphasizing her point.
April snatched the gift, handing over the leather strap at the same time.
“You’re nuts. You know that, right?” April smiled, tearing at the wrapping paper on her second-chance gift. The open box revealed a gift certificate to a big-box book store. A smile curved April’s lips, but quickly turned to a frown. “Are you sure you want to do this? I’ll take the thing back if you want.”
It was obvious April was only being kind. She didn’t want the strap back, and once Cindy had the leather in her hands, she didn’t want to give it up. Smooth on the embossed side, the reverse was rough. It would make a perfect two-in-one spanking tool. She tucked it behind her back. “Nope. A deal is a deal. Enjoy your gift!” She took off before April had a chance to protest.
All the way back to the office she shared with Marley, Cindy stroked her new toy. Her ass tingled as she imagined how it would feel against her flesh. Would the embossed side leave the holiday merriment on her cheeks? She’d seen engraved paddles capable of doing so. However, she wasn’t sure the lettering on this one was deep enough, but she planned to try it out soon on someone at Bottoms Up.

Marley would have forgotten her Secret Santa gift if Cindy hadn’t reminded her. As it was, she waited until she was home to open it. Office gifts were notorious for being awful—case in point, the ridiculous leather strap Cindy received—and Marley wasn’t very good at pretending. Every emotion she experienced showed on her face—good or bad. The only way to keep from hurting a co-worker’s feelings was to open the gift in private.
After heating a bowl of leftover chili, she settled on the sleeper sofa that, except for a television perched on a stand, was her only furniture. She made decent money, but with student loans to pay off and the high price of living in the city, there wasn’t much left over. At least her third-floor walk-up studio apartment had a kitchen. Not everyone in Manhattan could say as much.
She finished off her meal then reached for the gift. The box was the type used for men’s neckties, which she guessed was exactly what was inside. Most people in the office knew she was female, but with a unisex name like hers, someone clearly had not bothered to check. It wasn’t the first time the mistake had been made, and it wouldn’t be the last.
Lifting the lid, she stared at the contents. Not a tie, was the first thing that popped into her head. Then, reading the slip of paper, her head spun.
Who would give her such a thing? She’d heard of Bottom’s Up. Who hadn’t? Every news outlet of any kind had reported on the exclusive club during the hoopla surrounding the latest BDSM book everyone was reading. After seeing a television news clip about the place, she and her then boyfriend, Max, had tried spanking. And she’d loved it.
They’d spank each other as discipline for trumped up transgressions, like being late when they met somewhere for dinner or forgetting to say please or thank you. Sometimes, Max would turn her over his knee and pepper her bottom with quick slaps that eventually became loving caresses and led to hot sex. Thinking back on the things they’d done together made her wet with need. She’d loved the spanking even when it hadn’t ended with the two of them in bed. It didn’t make any sense to her, but the spankings made her feel loved.
Giving the spankings up had been more difficult than giving up Max. Other than the spanking and the occasional round of super-hot sex, there had been nothing between them. They didn’t like the same foods, the same books or movies. He hated the city, and she loved it. His decision to move to New Jersey and commute by train meant they would hardly see each other unless she moved with him. Not willing to give up her life in the city—such as it was—had been the last straw.
Marley read the gift certificate again. She’d only told one person at the office about the spankings. Cindy. God, she loved that woman! They’d worked together like a well-oiled clock for the last six months, and over time, they’d become friends, too. Leave it to her to come up with a unique gift, something meaningful, even if the recipient was too shy to use it. It was the thought that counted, right?
She set the certificate aside and took the dirty bowl to the kitchen. While she washed her dinner dishes, she tried to think of something special she could do for her friend in return for being so thoughtful. For all the confiding Marley had done, thinking up something equally as meaningful for Cindy proved difficult. The woman was a good listener, but she did tend to keep things to herself.
God, what if she told someone else? What if the certificate had come from a person she didn’t know?
Marley tamped down the panic making her pulse race. She’d simply thank her co-worker for the gift tomorrow. If she hadn’t given it to her, she’d say so. Then Marley could panic.
